News: Fall 2005
Welcome to Furman University's chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery. ACM is the computer science majors club. Click around and check us out.
Oct. 2
The picnic was a blast - as I understand it we had a record amount of participation from the CS-11 students; hopefully that'll keep happening this year :)
We've got a couple of interesting things going on this week - first, on Wednesday night, be sure to come out for the Student Faculty (or Stufac, colloquially) dinner at Rice Bowl! If you're not sure how to get there let me know and I can put up directions; we'd love to have you come hang out and enjoy some quality chinese food with us.
Also, on Thursday at 4PM we have two Furman Alumni speaking in the CS classroom (Riley Hall 204). Gary Croucher and Don Law have extensive experience in computer science, ranging from working with Apple and Sun to starting their own consulting company to working for Cyberguard, a network security company (and their current place of employment). They want to have an informal lecture/discussion with the students, and are interested in looking for people who might be interested in working for Cyberguard in the future.
On top of that, the pictures from the picnic are now available online, and we have some interesting quotes rolling in already.
So be sure to show up for those events, and stay posted for other things we've got planned for later on in the month.

Sept. 20
So far so good! We've managed through the first week of classes and are settling back into the routine of things, with a few ACM events here and there to liven things up (because really, what more lively group of people do you know than Computer Science majors?).
Everyone should be planning on coming to the picnic on Thursday. If you're not there, you'll make me angry... and you won't like me when I'm angry. Well, unless you're sadistic like that...
There have been talks of reviving the bonfire tradition, as well as a new tshirt design (finally) and perhaps some other ACM activities that we haven't really seen in the past couple of years. So stay posted, and be sure to let us know if there's anything you'd like to do!
