| Upsilon Pi Epsilon is
an honor society founded in 1967 to recognize scholarship and professionalism
in the Computing Sciences. In the 25 years since then, over 100 institutions
of higher education around the world have established UPE chapters. It is
the only international honor society in the Computing Sciences. UPE has
been officially recognized by both the ACM and by the IEEE Computer Society.
The Department of Computer Science's chapter is the 127th in the world, and the fourth in South Carolina. The Furman University Chapter of UPE was formed in the spring of 1994. The Charter Ceremony for the Chapter was performed on April 18, 1994 by Robert Roggio, a professor at the University of North Florida and a member of the UPE Board. |
